Journey Cost Calculator
This is a very flexible and powerful calculator that works out the cost of a journey, for instance, by taxi. Imagine you own a taxi company and you would like a way for your customers to be able to work out their own journey quotes (and maybe even take payment online too) then the below calculator shows one way of doing this.You, as the taxi company owner, might operate the a journey pricing model as follows... you charge £3 per mile for the first 5 miles and then £2 per mile thereafter, in which case you would fill in the form with:
• Initial cost per mile = 3
• Number of miles for initial cost = 5
• Normal cost per mile = 2
• Offset cost (/ pickup cost) = 0
Your customers would then just enter their collection and drop-off postcodes to calculate the journey cost - easy!• Number of miles for initial cost = 5
